The greatest enemy of a healthy, energy-efficient, comfortable and durable building is air infiltration (the movement of air through floor, ceiling, and wall cavities). Not only does it cause the loss of efficiencies in heating and cooling, but can also create hidden moisture and condensation. When you use BioBased Insulation®, you will have built a home that is more energy efficient, healthier, and comfortable for your new home owner.

Doesn’t a home need to breathe?
The best thing you can do for your home is build it tight and ventilate it right. Adding ventilation to your heating and air unit will provide the controlled ventilation for your home. This air seal and ventilation will usually benefit family members with asthma or allergies because they don’t have to deal with unfiltered air leaking into the home. Also by correctly conditioning the air, homes with spray foam insulation usually do not have moisture problems or mold.

How much more does spray foam insulation cost?
When compared to traditional insulations like fiberglass or cellulose, spray foam insulation does cost more up front, but remember:

  • You are getting an insulator and an air barrier in one product which help
to decrease your heating and cooling costs.
  • You can usually save by decreasing the size of the HVAC unit.
  • Homeowners can usually finance the cost difference as part of their mortgage,
so the increase to their overall mortgage will be relatively minimal.
  • Many times the energy savings from spray foam can help you qualify for an
Energy-Efficient Mortgage which can save the homeowner additional money.

All of our products are Class I fire rated, and many have sustainable features and third-party certifications. To find out about an installer near you, or to become a certified installer yourself, please contact BioBased Insulation®.
